荻外荘へ
荻外荘（てきがいそう）は、昭和2年に伊藤忠太の設計で建てられました。当初は、大正天皇の侍医頭も務めた入澤達吉の別邸でした。昭和12年に近衛文麿に譲渡されたものです。また戦後、吉田茂が少しの間仮住まいしていたようです。
近衛文麿は、戦前の内閣総理大臣。昭和初期に3度にわたり内閣総理大臣を務めた政治家で五摂家筆頭という最高の名門に生まれ、「公爵宰相」として国民から絶大な人気と期待を集めましたが、日米交渉に邁進しましたが開戦前に総辞職しました。
荻外荘には様々な政治の相談が持ち込まれ会議会談が行われていたそうです。現在の調度品は写真をもとに復原したものだそうですが、この部屋はまさに会談の場所だったようですね。
近衛文麿は、連合国軍最高司令官総司令部（GHQ）からA級戦犯容疑者として出頭を命じられましたが、「戦犯として裁かれる屈辱」を拒み、1945年12月16日にこの書斎で自決したそうです。自決の必要は本当にあったのでしょうか・・・。日米開戦を避けたかった人物なのに。
とても素敵なお部屋がいくつもありますので、写真でみてね。伊藤忠太設計ですが、この方は、築地本願寺や明治神宮の設計でも知られ、古社寺保存会委員や国宝保存会委員として、日本の国宝や重要文化財の保護に多大な貢献もしました。建築史家でもあるんですね。とても素敵なお部屋ばかりです。西洋というより中国的な・・・

Visit to Tekigaiso: A Hidden Gem of History and Architecture
I visited Tekigaiso, a historic villa built in 1927. It was the residence of Fumimaro Konoe, a former Prime Minister of Japan.
The house was designed by Chuta Ito, a famous architect known for Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple. The rooms blend classic Japanese style with unique continental influences—truly elegant! It’s a place where history was made, and sadly, where the Prime Minister’s life came to an end after WWII.
